"New" 72 27 Overlander just purchased

New to forum, my wife and I just purchased a 27 27 Overlander from an estate. 2 weeks later we have in interior out and planning our next step. I am thinking that fixing the water leaks from to down is the way to go and removing the inner skin would make that much easier. Any comments would be appreciated......Capt. Ed

Welcome, and congrats on your excellent choice! Yup- finding and eliminating all water leaks would be the 1st thing to do, followed by about 500 other things, all covered in lots of great threads here! Just use the "Search" feature, or go to "Forums" and shop around. Have fun! -tim

All te exterior gaskets will need attention, and especially the sewer vent pipe cover gaskets. There are some gasket upgrades that are available that are superior to the originals that Airstream used.

Also, if you plan on traveling, you might check out the axles too.

Welcome. I just bought a '72 27' overlander too. I gutted it and have been chasing leaks as well. I found that by removing the old caulk from the windows and vents it is easier to get the whole thing water tight, with new sealers. Leaks are deffinately the first matter to consider, especially durring the winter. You don't want them becoming worse, and you don't want them around after you have finished the remodel. It's good that you can find it now too, while they are easier to reach.
