New 1975 Land Cruiser (Excella?) owner

New AS owner in the Bozeman MT area. First thing we need to do is add an awning. Any ideas? Is an awning something anyone can install?

Welcome!

Welcome as new member...

First official duty is to learn to use search tab above to find existing messages and "threads" on subjects you need help with..

Searching for "awning" and "Zip dee" and "install" will get you several messages from people who have searched and shopped and installed awnings..

All that said, you could install an awning with some friends, but it is probably too much for one person to try with a long awning, as you'd need for that trailer..

I'd say concensus here is to look first at Zip Dee brand of awnings, which include arms curved to fit sides of Airstreams, and which are the factory installed units. At your length, you might need a center support arm to keep roller from sagging in the center, and that complciates assembly somewhat. Zip Dee's are a little more expensive than A&E, but their Customer Service and availability of parts are terrific. They also offer dozens of fabric choices in Sunbrella Polyester fabric, rather than vinyl...

Look at Awnings By ZipDee

I installed one on my 75 TW last year.

Not that hard to install. If your trailer is 31 ft, you may need a center support. Do not leave it deployed during heavy rains, I have pictures....

My son and son-in-law installed that Carefree awning when that beautiful '75 lived in Wisconsin. Welcome to the forums.
