Need Recommendations Winter Camping St Petersburg, FL

We are contemplating leaving Central Texas next winter to live in our 1963 Overlander somewhere in a more tropical climate - looking toward St. Petersburg south on the Gulf side. Just starting our search - anyone out there have any suggestions for campgrounds??

We have camped a couple of winters at Sherwood Forest in Palm Harbor,FL, just north of Clearwater. Many campground in Florida are pretty full this time of year. There are some State parks along 19 which are nice, as well as the Everglades campgrounds, but you are limited to 14 days. Reservations are a must.

Look at the Travelers Rest Resort website. This is our 4th winter here. You will not find a nicer place. Several folks from Texas spend the winter months here. About 40% Airstreams. Come for a visit and look it over for a longer stay. About 40 miles to the Tampa airport.

Are you retired military? That would open up some nice opportunities for RV camping in FL.

No matter, you'll find nice RV camping all along the Gulf Coast.
Don't overlook Alabama on the way to Florida. That's right Alabama has a beautiful beach on the Gulf Coast with at least one very nice RV Park. Once in Florida, you'll nice RV parks in Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Navarre Beach, and Panama City. We found one at Alligator Point we liked and Crystal River too.
Welcome, and Happy Trails!

In Tampa there is a RV resort that friends have stayed at called Bay Bayou RV. Convenient to the beaches of Clearwater and the Gulf. Might be booked this time of year though.
