My New 72 Ambassador
Hello All,
I have been looking around the site for a couple of weeks now while I waited to pick up my new 72 Ambassador 29 and I finally have it. It sounds like most of you have all had great experiences with your "new" AS and I guess I started that way also. When I picked it up I had my wife follow my home to be sure everything was going OK, about 3 miles into the trip she called me to tell me that the biggest snake she had ever seen was coming out of the rear bumper...well that did not impress her I'll tell ya...I will try to post a photo she took while following me.
Well I started the restoration yesterday and I am pleased with the condition of my new AS. I am sure I will have allot of question for you all if thats OK.
Anyway I am thrilled to be a member of your forum and thank you all for your great advice.

That's umm, an interesting resident you have there. You may want to get a professional out to look your coach over and remove any more uninvited guests.
Good luck with your rehab on your trailer. My parents used to live in Edgewater, on US1.

Uh, snakes don't really zig zag like that I think. That looks a whole lot more like a rubber snake. Anyone smell a rat? Or at least a rubber snake?

It looks real enough for me. I do not like snakes! Where I work they tend to come in the doors and hide in the parking lot. The security people are good at catching them and relocating them away from the buildings.
Maybe you should give your trailer a "snake" name.

I agree with John. The snakes I've seen tend to propel them selves by curving and undulating along the ground. When hanging down from trees (don't you love 'em?), they tend to hang straight and look as menacing as can be. This snake wouldn't be propelling himself through the air. He'd be hanging on for dear life.
One learns all sorts of stuff living on the edge of a little old swamp. It's not that I've spent any time studying snakes. When someone asks me what kind of snake one is, I tell them, "The kind that's over there. You should stay over here and let that snake do whatever he wants to do over there."
Pity any poor snake that wanders into my mom's flower bed. If she happens to have her hoe handy, he'll end up as flower fertilizer. She doesn't buy into the "good vs. bad snakes" theory.

Of course, if that WERE a snake, and he'd just bopped the bottom of his chin on the pavement, I could see that he might want to zig-zag some.

You've got one, too!
Greetings! I also have a '72 Ambassador that I am "restoring" (to some degree). Let's keep in touch so we can share notes. I've already had issues with the Dometic refrigerator (which I think is fixed now) and with the galley tambour (which I ripped out). The floor is next.

Trust me it was real and it took some time for it to decide to come off onto the hot pavement, I pulled over and waited, all it would do is smell around the pavement, it finally came off after I started moving again...thank goodness...

Hi, Higgy,
I believe you and your photo snappin' spouse. (Did she have a Treo smartphone?) Welcome to the REST of your Airstream restoration and ownership adventure, and if you have any questions here that I can help with I'll try my best to be here for you.
