Meet 'Tex'
Wahoo! After years of dreaming and a couple of serious years of looking meet our new Airstream. I found the AS on Craig's list the day it was posted and corresponded with the really nice couple in Texas.
The best sister in the world drove 3 1/2 hours one way to see the camper, armed with an inspection document from this forum , to verify that it did exist and was in excellent condition and give a deposit.
I flew down to Texas and met our new camper on Saturday. Boy howdy it's hot outside of Houston! I can see why they had never used the awning...they never sat outside the camper I can verify that the A/C works great...
I have named the Airstream 'Tex' although my DH is undecided...May turn into Katy...it's like trying out names on the family pet - they seem to stick!
Hubby and I decided marital and family harmony was of the utmost importance so our first camping/trailering experience is not the 46 hr round tripper we'd envisioned in the 5 days we had off. Rather we are having Tex transported to us. Who knew there was a company that delivered 50-80,000 RVs annualy across the USA??? Tex was picked up on Monday morning and made it to POPLAR BLUFF, MO by 9:30 this morning. I'm told he will be in my driveway between 0800-1000 tomorrow morning!! It's like tracking Santa on NORAD.
Isn't it beautiful? I'm on the left with my sister who again drove 3 1/2 hours one way with me!
Special thanks to everyone who patiently answered my many questions especially 53flyingcloud, Janetb, Robertsunrus, heir-stream, starflytel, CanoeStream, and Moosetags.

Hooray, hooray! Isn't it exciting? And it just gets better.
Congratulations and happy trails!
(And having both Texans and a Katie in our family we're kinda liking your name choices...)

Teresa, how cool is that?! And just earlier today I was shopping for you here. Good thing I didn't put down a deposit, eh?
Congratulations! You have much more patience than anybody I've ever known with aluminitis. But you finally found your prince... Tex... frog... whatever. Katy works too. It's a town in Texas after all. Close to Houston on top of it. I'm glad for y'all!

Nice trailer / Nice sister.
Hi, what a nice looking trailer: Looks like a new, never used one. Maybe you should name it after your cool sister who helped you out.

I'm thinking this is the weekend my best friend's daughter gets married....we'll have to re-check our schedule now that we wouldn't be setting the pop-up up next to the other Airstreams!

Thanks CanoeStream. I didn't feel very patient while looking and I certainly am not waiting this morning for my Airstream to arrive You have been a big help. I would have been tempted three weeks ago if that CCD had been the twin bed config. My prince was found on the Katy, Tx Craig's list.

We have our maiden voyage planned for next weekend. Our sons are going with us so it will be cozy. Haven't decided if we throw sheets on the converted bed/dinette or just flop a sleeping bag down.
It's raining so hard the satelight signal is going out...oh well, it's a beautiful day to get a camper!

The couch right behind the fridge pulls out for a wider platform. Pull on the facing trim just above the lower storage door. The back cushion completes the mattress for the area. I'm not so sure about weight bearing with this cantilever section but it doesn't have to be out all the way for me to curl up nicely in my sleeping bag. If we have a 3rd person in the Safari I'll exile myself there because I'm the first one up.
Does this one have the range/oven?

Tex arrived at 8:03 while I was typing here!
Bob,
Ours has the microwave/convection oven. Hubby does have a question about where to hook up a DVD player. Is there a place designated for electronic toys? He's down watching the Equalizer videos now as we need to adjust the ball/hitch for our TV.
That's the next step...where to put things. What cubby do you store your sleeping bag in?

We stuff them into the space at the top of the wardrobe. Two mummy bags fit up there with the Woodall's campground directory and a few other flat items.
We really use our convection microwave a lot. It's nice to have but you'll have to figure out which smallish pans fit in there with the table rotating and all. I made a microwave discovery after 3 years of use. Have your DH unscrew the built-in face kit, pull the microwave (easy job) and look to see if they're designing the cabinet any better -- http://www.airforums.com/forums/f426...-se-44885.html
DVD? Is the prewire in the space behind the radio/CD player? Or just in the walls. I dunno. There's a small access panel inside the overhead compartment. If he wants to use an iPod y'all might want to replace the stereo if it's a Sony -- I don't think much of those at all! I haven't quite replaced mine. It's on my to-do list. See http://www.airforums.com/forums/f44/...tml#post707894
