Luv at first sight

Well She finally arrived after a long voyage and is safely tucked into our favorite location. She is our 19' Bambi. First pic is at the dock when we picked her up and second is after settling in (can you see the hanglider in the distance under the branch?). Now it is time to get down to the nitty gritty of figuring out how all the systems work.

Since we did not buy Bambi from a dealer we did not have the benefit of any demonstrations. We have figured out most things but if there are any other 2005 Bambi owners out there willing to share their knowlege on a couple of points we would appreciate it.Thanks!

Please Take Special Steps to Prevent Salt Water Corrosion

Greeting Dijer,
She's a beauty, and it's easy to see why you fell in luv. Seeing the picture with the beach scene in the background reminded me of the corrosive effects the salt spray had on cars parked at homes near the beaches in Hawaii. The salt laden ocean breezes can be particulary hard on Airstreams and can greatly accelerate corrosion where dissimilar metals contact each and at points where the clearcoat has been scratched or worn away.

The foregoing paragraph just about exhausts my knowledge on the topic; however, we have some members on these forums who know mucho about corrosion and electrolysis. Nick Crowhurst comes to mind. 2Airishuman is another. Please search the forums for discussions of the topics ("corrosion," "oxidation," "dissimilar metals," etc.), and take proper preventive measures from the start.

If your search produces no results, start a new thread with a catchy title as bait to attract the chemists in the crew.

Dijer,

Sweet unit with an excellent location. Curiousity has the best of me now. Can you expand on your experience of shipping the unit to the islands? Keep us posted on your adventures!

When one lives in the land sought out by many as a vacation land, where does one go with their trailer to take a vacation?

Congratulations!! She is a beauty and I'm sure you'll enjoy many years of traveling adventures. You just need to let us live those out with you vicariously with pix and stories.

Shipping was a breeze, Matson line is efficient, trustworthy, we had shipped our car over with them (much less expensive BTW). It's pricey almost $5k to ship Bambi but they were imposing a gas surcharge the next week after we shipped so we were lucky!!

As far as where to go to vacation? Sometimes a dry place sounds good...Aloha
