Looking at Airstreams

Hello, I am looking to be an Airstream owner, My wife and I and our black lab have been motor home owners for many years, we are looking to down size to a possible 30" Classic from our current 45" Liberty H3-45, just want to live a simpler life on the road, I look forward to info supplied by members of this forum, and suggestions on how to proceed in the hunt for an Airstream that will fit our needs, I plan on pulling the Air stream with a 2500 Chevy Dura max diesel with Allison tranny, I have lots of questions as any newbie would have about our possible purchase, such as do they come with Gen sets, Solar panels, inverters, house batteries, 50 & 30 amp how many AC,s, I understand the 30" weighs in at about 10,000 lbs, should I buy new or used, I am 73 years old and plan on traveling for 6-7 years more, Thanks for your input , Gary

As a former MH owner, not a H3 but a 40 ft pusher with 4 slides I understand your learning curve. For me, this forum & Airstream YouTube videos brought me up to speed. You can go that route & it works or contact a reputable dealer like Colonial Airstream in NJ for the advise you're looking for.

I have had some kind of MH and trailer / 5th wheels all my life. My last 3 have all been Airstreams. Yes they are different from anything else out there. Systems are similar but these things are built different. If you have had any kind of RV before you will pick up the differences and master them quickly and with ease. Nothing difficult about Airstreams. Just different. Once you have had one your hooked for life. Nothing else out there compares. FWIW, we just picked up our 3rd Airstream which we special ordered. It's flawless. Not one thing we have found wrong. Nothing. Nadda. Thought I would mention that because there are too many horror stories on these forums. Remember, only the problem ones are usually mentioned. The majority are like mine but you never read about them because they don't have complaints. Good Luck! Many floorplans to choose from out there. You seem to have the truck to pull any and all.

Looking

Cabinetmaker, Did you have it special ordered? Can you do that at the factory? I will keep the unit inside when not in use, sounds like a lot of older units have a rust or leak problem, can you order one with stainless frame, or aluminum frame, Are they made with copper wire and conduit for the same, Can you order the unit with full size fridge etc, and what kind of warranty does a new one have? are the holding tanks aluminum, or plastic, or stainless? can you order them with jacks for leveling?
