Let's Fly

Greetings from Fort Collins, CO. Well it happened, we bought our first Airstream last week. Advertised as a 1954 Flying Cloud it has turned out to be a 21' 1952 Flying Cloud, thanks to the help of Mark at Airstream. I am looking forward to getting my hands dirty, learning all that I can and touring the country in this aluminum beauty.

Hi

Congratulations !!!

Either that trailer has been redone or it's in unbelievable shape (as in stored indoors). Either way you got a good one. Do take a bit of time to check things like brakes and other "road worthy" issues. It looks like the tires may be a bit tired

Thank you! It had been sitting in Montana for 30 years. With new tires/wheels and the bearings packed we made it home. The shell is good, but the the inside (sub floor, electrical and plumbing) need a lot of love.

Greetings robocopp from a fellow Coloradoan: Airstreams are popular in our state, and there is an active vintage Airstream club. I renovated a 66 Trade Wind and did extensive work on the wife's 86 Limited. I recently purchased a 75 Overlander. Let the fun begin all over again. Moisture is a bad disease for Airstream. They tend to leak, and then rot and rust.

These forums have a wealth of information that will be very helpful as you work on your 52 Flying Cloud. It will be worth quite a bit when you are done, if done tastefully. If you paint it pink, it will be worth less. But you might like pink. As they say, your trailer, your rules.
