It's Official

I have been lurking here since mid June as I somehow decided that I needed an Airstream. Found one that a friend had by the side of his house for 4 years with the intentions of restoring, but never did. So I made my offer and it was accepted today.

Pick it up tomorrow. It is a 1969 Overlander 27'. No pictures yet but I will take some tomorrow and post as soon as I can. Then I start cleaning it up and see truely what it needs and what I have gotten myself into.

Thanks for the information I have already gleaned from this site and I am sure I will be posting question after question as well as the progress I make in having a fun, useable, and classic trailer for my family.

Regards,

Welcome again.... however looking at the profile photo I'm going to stick my neck out and say .... please don't turn an Airstream into some kind of snow cat.... we know the winters get kinda long up there in Utah but we know you have the right stuff... and will do the right thing... once you get started. Just leave it on wheels, huh?

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Trying to line up a TV to bring the trailer home tomorrow. My Suburban does not have the Trailer Brake Controller installed yet so I am waiting to hear back from my Brother-in-law to help me with his F-350.

Concerning the winters here in Utah, they are not that bad. The ski resorts get some pretty good snow, but the Salt Lake valley rarely has snow build up for too long. In fact, for several years running, until this last year, I was able to play golf every month of the year in SLC. So don't worry about putting skis or tracks on the Airstream. In fact, I am looking forward to using the AS during winter months to head to Death Valley and other places that are unbearable during the Summer.

As you can tell, I am chipper and gung ho now, but wait a few days after I get a real glimpse of the work ahead of me on the AS.

Later,

We'll still be here for you when chipper and gung-ho become, "what the hell was I thinking" and "will this never end."

Truth in Advertising

Andy, we might have to 'moderate' your avatar photo I know there's a Nimrod in Minnesota -- it's in the northwoods but very flat. Mapquest tells me there are also Nimrods in Montana (2!), Oregon, Arkansas or Texas (2). I think we can rule out Arkansas and Texas. My vote goes to either Montana or Oregon. Snow? How 'bout the one near Essex?

Random Pictures

Well, the work has begun. I have gone over this in my mind and on paper, but every time I go out and start working on the trailer, I never get done what I originally started to do.

But here are some photos of the day I picked her up.
