Introduction and Air Conditioning question in my Airstream 1996 30' LandYacht

Hello:

I l'm officially joining, though I've peeked on the page a few times.

I own a 30-foot Land Yacht, 1996, and am preparing once again for Burning Man. But my air conditioner! It is a Penguin model. I had it repaired last year. This year, it won't work. But also the wall sockets won't work in the cabin, so I'm thinking there is a 1) fuse that is burnt, or 2) a circuit breaker that has been tripped.

I'm not mechanical, but I've been reading the manual and trouble-shooting, like a sociology professor who's now a hippie. So not much. Any ideas on how to get my repaired air conditioner to work? It's hot this summer?

Gotta be a switch somewhere!

Greetings Unclevern from cool Colorado: It's 55 and raining here this evening. We are so blessed to have a cooler, wetter summer. Less wildfires.

The symptoms you describe certainly indicate you have a tripped breaker, or you forgot to plug in your Airstream. You know that the air conditioner requires a 30 amp circuit to run. If you ran an extension cord from the garage to your trailer and turned on the AC, it will certainly trip the breaker. .

First find your power distribution panel and systematically close, then open each breaker. Now plug in your trailer and check for power at the outlets. I hope all is okay. Now with nothing else plugged into your trailer outlets, you may turn your AC on to "low fan" and nothing more. This will at least test that the motor of the AC is operational. But don't turn it on "cool" or you risk damaging the motor due to low voltage.

Hope this helps.

David
