Insurance on Classic

In going from a motorhome to a Classic, i'm trying to get a ballpark figure on how much basic insurance will cost on the AS. Believe it or not, I am paying close to $160 month on the MH. I just need an idea, or perhaps a site where I can get a real quote. thanks

Hi BBoseley!

Congrats!

I pay under $300 a year, but it is declaired value on a 1995 28 classic + 10,000 additional contents ins.
BUT you have to add the Ins. cost of the Tow Vehicle!

Will you be fulltiming?
Full replacement value?

Contents of trailer rider?

There is an insurance thread you should check-out.

I understand that in the insurance business it is location, location, location. Saying this we pay through American Family for our Classic Motor Home, full coverage $250 deductible, $700 a year. They are a wonderful company and even replaced our engine with NO rate increase.

Gretings-

There are many ways to insure your Classic. If you hold the title it is totally up to you. If you have a loan out, check with the paper holder, they will want a certain amount of coverage. You can pay as little as $300 per year or up to $1400 per year depending on the type of coverage you want/need. We have found that all the contents of our Safari are covered under our home owners, then we took out an umbrela policy to cover any accidental injuries which cover us, friends and guests at home, Airstream, Etc. We have our Safari insured for replacement and not value which of course costs more but if anything should ever happen our unit will be replaced by an equivalent unit available new on the market at that time. Shop around and do not worry about cost first, worry about coverage, then shop for price!

For us, insurance on the Airstream trailer is essentially an add-on to our auto policy with a cost of only about $300 a year. We're fortunate to have USAA, but I'm sure others would offer similarly low rates. Not having an engine and associated complexity matters, it seems.
