I'm a STREAMER now!! (finally) It's true!!

Hello all.... to the great people who responded to my new member post in late November...... YOU WERE RIGHT !! I hung in there....kept looking... then looking some more.... then for fun....looked at some more!!

Well, today I ended up with a 1990 32' Excella 1000... and WOW.. interior had been redone in '01, new fridge, new a/c... Let's just say... I'm .... and Rusty Dog and I are sitting in a hotel room waiting for tomorrow morning to head back south....

Ok, why a hotel you ask? Well, the people that said they would install a brake controller for me today.... when I went to get it done.... Oh no - can't get to it till Tuesday ..... Soooo, called everyone in a 25 mile radius... all said "not till Tuesday, all booked (not open Saturday, etc).... Well, not going to risk an accident (hey - I DO READ the post here) and got a hotel room for Rusty and I.

Per chance, went to Wal-Mart and they confirmed they do not sell brake controllers... told the service guy my story... he calls a friend... who fits me in at 4:45 to "git 'er done!" Bought a couple of 6 packs for the guys for staying late... and I then had my brake controller.... So on the road in the a.m. By the way, it is not the controller I wanted, but these guys use them for 6 horse trailers for everyone in the area. They said it will get me back home... Then I can get the one I want....

You many folks that contribute so much to this forum deserve so much credit... unbeknowns to you.... I have read and learned. I really got my confidence here. Being alone now, I really did not think I can do this alone. But reading and reading and searching..... just feeling the friendship here.. I figured I wasn't alone... Just get out there and say "HI". I CANNOT wait till I get my AIR sticker and my custom made sign with my AIR #'s and get to a RALLY!!! And to you pet owners.... Rusty the doxie is excited too....!!

Sorry for the ramble..... happy, happy, happy..

P.S. .... I even got my personalized tag..... SLVR HUT .... and one for my TV... '01 Excursion... HUT TOWR

Randy and Rusty, welcome to Airstreaming! Really, you were a 'streamer from your first point of interest, then research, then search, and now, finally, an owner! Now, having your brake controller and heading home in the am, your next big task: what are you going to name it, him, her????? Keep us all posted as your adventure unfurls. Hope to see you on the road or at one of those rallies ~G

Excellent! And now your adventure continues. May I suggest the Georgia Springstream rally in April? We would love to meet you there.

Great luck! Glad you're able to get on the road. Be safe on the road and stop as often as Rusty needs to get out. I find that driving with the kids ( all or ours have four legs each ) that I stop more often than I would driving alone.
Hope your road home is smooth and that you get to S. Florida without mishap.
BTW we've got a great SpringStream ralley planned for April in N. Georgia. Rusty could come and meet Shadow and Bogey.

Glad you and Rusty found a 'stream. You sound like such a nice individual. If you are ever in Texas, look us up. We'll have a place to park with water and electric service down under the big pecan trees right beside the river.

Hi Tom and Rusty...

Great story, and congrats to both of ya...

I too can relate to the euphoria you feel, and once all is said and done, and you are heading back home, your tires will probably not even touch the ground all the way home!!! haha!!

I am a recent rejoined member to Airstreaming and the WBCCI, after 30 yrs absence. I purchased an identical 1969 23' Safari single axle to the one my Grandparents had "back in the day"...(from 11/68 to 8/76)
Now i am back to where it began for me so many yrs ago.

You will no doubt meet many new "like minded crazies" and the friendships will be remembered forever. I have such vivid recollections of so many of the friends I made during the years I traveled with Grandma and Grandpa.....many International Rallies, and many local events with the Michigan Unit.

Regarding your trailer....very cool...AND 32 FEET...wow..... what a barge!!
I remember distinctly back in the summer of 1971, in Salem OR, at the International Rally, they unveiled the all new Excella 500 for the first time.... Wow, what a introduction..... Everybody just raved and drooled over that trailer.....made a Sovereign look like entry level..... And made Gramps' single axle Safari look like a refrigerator box..... I remember how sexy that Excella looked with the aluminum mag wheels and that great big blue stripe...... as a 10 y/o kid, I was fascinated.

So, you have one heck of a nice rig, for a first time Airstreamer....very good!!

Congrats again, and fill us in on the whole trip home once you get settled in.

Scott
