I'm a freak about research...

So when my wife and I got bitten by the Airstream bug when we went to see the DWR Airstream in Fort Worth, I immediately started seeking out every resource I could on these wonderful machines. Probably the most interesting thing I learned was that they're built less than 100 miles from where I grew up in Ohio (Hicksville. No, really.). Now that I know that, it finally gives me a reason to go back home to visit my family!

Anyway, we're years from buying an Airstream yet, but I'm already planning for it by researching which ones we might want so that when the time comes to replace our car I can buy a truck that will tow the Airstream we will ultimately wind up owning. I'm looking forward to getting to know the other folks on the forums!

Welcome to the forums.

Since you are up in DFW area, you may also want to stop by Roger Williams Airstream in Weatherford and talk to David Tidmore. He's a wealth of knowledge that can help you (to the point of confusion) of what you may want to look for, or what you may or not need.

Thumbs up Small world ...

Hey Pete,

I read your blog fairly regularly, and live in the same neighborhood (and have even gone on some of Bernie's Panther City rides) ... My wife and I also had been researching and preparing ourselves for eventual Airstream ownership. Recently, we took the plunge, and are now owners of a vintage Airstream. It's been exciting and challenging ... Shoot me an e-mail (in my profile) sometime, and you can stop by and take a look at our coach.

Thanks for the tip, Kevin. The folks at Fun Times were nice enough, but didn't seem to eager to do much when we pulled up (maybe they saw that we were in a VW Rabbit and not anything that could tow). I'll definitely see what's up at Roger Williams, since I don't think we got a good enough idea of the different models on the south side.

John, I'd love to! And thanks for reading the blog!

Last weekend we got bored and did exactly what you suggested, Kevin! David was awesome! He showed us every Airstream on the lot, and helped us figure out what size and floorplan was right for us. I'm leaning toward the 25' International CCD, and the wife likes the 25' Safari SS. Still several years (or at least months) down the road, but it's nice to know there are people as knowledgeable and passionate as David.
