Writing to you today from sunny Az. I work from a company called automatik education and we create training material and run events for the auto industry. Several events a year are out on tracks and in parking lots and we wanted something that we could refurbish into a mobil office of sorts but that could also be a sleeping quarters while on the road...so two years ago we bought an 87 Airstream, gutted it and made it new.
I look forward to chatting with this community and learning more about the wonderful Airstream and the people who use them.
Thanks - it took more $$ than we had hoped, but the end product is very nice. It is a Hybrid between a sleeper coach and a working office. It was in decent condition when we purchased it for the company. We hired an interior designer/Airstream owner to remodel. We had it buffed and shined in Tucson. Gutted all but the bathroom. Had it reskinned, and added the cabinets and custom couch/table area, plus lits of AV. Some of the cool features we added are:
MotoSat Dish for DirecTV and Internet feed
Front and rear Table motors to convert the table to a bed with the flip of a switch.
Flat screen TVs in front and back
Sound system and DVD/VD player in front and back
It is a stinker to maintain, but the clients like it and the employees get to take it out camping every now and again. Thanks for the interest.
