Howdy
We (C.W. and Jan) are in the process of moving back to beautiful TX from a 3-year stint in VA.
Jan has just retired from the army after 23 years, C.W. is a retired multimedia designer, technical writer and carpenter.
We have two big dogs, a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a rescued Ridgeback/Pitbull X.
We have been camping for a long time because we’re not really people people and because we were fed up with being given stinky ‘Smoking’ rooms in motels because of the dogs. C.W. started tenting in his sudent days.
At some point we ‘graduated’ to a travel trailer. A comfortable bed, a little galley and your own toilet gain traction as age advances.
Now we are on the brink of getting an AS which C.W. has dreamt about since he saw an image of one in a coffee table book about classic road trips as a child.

Hello from Colorado and welcome to these Forums. We have two stupid beagles. Traveling with them in the Airstream is great fun. They travel well in the truck, they love to explore under picnic tables in the park and campgrounds, they love to bark at most everything, and they love to chew up my computer charge cord. Stupid beagles.
Traveling with an Airstream is like bringing a motel room with you. You can bring your favorite food. It's the same bed every night. Further, it is the cleanest restroom you will find on the road.
We're retired and enjoy traveling with our old Airstream.
David

Welcome C.W. & Jan to the Airstream community! Sounds like you’ll fit right in with this crowd. I’m a digital multimedia manager and 6 months from retirement. Can’t wait to get out of the daily grind and take some extended trips.
Good luck with your hunt and hope you find one sooner than later.

Hi C.W. and Jan, greetings from central Kentucky and welcome to the forum. I wish you good luck in your search for an Airstream. As for not being people people, you may find your Airstream will generate a lot of campground Lookie Lews, so be prepared.

A thanks ...
... for all y’all’s welcomes 🙏
So far our research is pointing us in the direction of a Safari/Flying Cloud 25 FB, possibly with the twin bed option.
I can remove the sofa (will have to research how) and put in a bespoke dog bed for the hounds so they have ‘their’ place and aren’t underfoot all the time.
First though we’ll have to buy a house (on >=5 acres) cos living on JBSA campsites is getting old quickly. Thankfully the one in VA sold quickly, and for the asking price, so we can hopefully move forwards soon.
So long

If I were in your place I would consider the 27.... two biggish dogs will ask "Where is the 50 lb. Bag of dog food? And my toys?! I will EAT your sofa if you didn't bring all the toys!"
The bigger wardrobe, pantry and storage under the twins will be great for the dogs.
Ultraleather too. Full awning package in Texas.
Welcome and "arf"
Paula

Trying to stay under the 7500 GVWR rule whereby Texas trailers of up to that weight rating do not need an annual state inspection. Until recently I used to run a 2014 Jeep JKU and the experiences with various state inspectors in various states lead me to believe that those retards ought to be avoided as much as legally possible. (Also: never ever another post-2011 Wrangler)
PS. Toys are found along the way: rabbits, squirrels, chihuahuas, possums ... and sadly a skunk recently.
