Hopeful Airstreamer

Hello everyone,
I am researching Airstreams and have been perusing the site. Hopefully, someday soon I will be in a Flying Cloud or International 25FB. First I have to sell our present Outback 210RS and then somehow trick my wife that Airstreams are really not that expensive. We live in western NC close to Asheville and have a 4 yr. old little boy who loves to camp. I did have a question about ground clearance of the Airstreams and I guess in particular the 25FB. I purchased the outback partly for the ground clearance wanting to make sure I wouldn't ground it getting into some sites. I haven't even come close to scraping even in my steep driveway ingress/egress. How much is it of a concern with an Airstream? They are certainly lower to the ground. Thanks in advance. Brian

Good luck to you. You ought to be able to reason with the Mrs... Search for the deals of Airstreams the dealers have had on their lots for longer than they would like or gently used Airstreams. They are lower to the ground but there is a skid plate to help protect the undercarriage. We have experienced hitting bottom between a steep drive and street. While I wasn't happy and the road had many scars from others as well we suffered no damage. When we had a TowLite trailer we added a lift kit for clearance but we haven't had any problems with the lower Airstream, but I wouldn't want to take it where there might be problems. Now the front of the Burb is so much lower too. Oh well. Offroading or rock docking wasn't really for us anyway.
