History of WBCCI rallys?

I'm new to this forum and I'm wondering - is there a place I can find any reminices of past (WAY PAST) rallys? I'm interested in the 1972 rally in Louisville KY. I went as a kid and wonder if anyone else remembers it.

I am not aware of any resources on the Internet that will answer your request, but there is another option. During the 1970s, the WBCCI published hard cover Rally Books for each of the International Rallys. I know this was a practice through 1978 as I have the book from that year to go along with my '78 Minuet (even though it would not have been welcome at the '78 Rally).

These Rally Books are offered from time to time on E-Bay. I found mine on E-Bay, and believe that most of them sell in the vicinity of $30.00 to $50.00. It is my understanding that many attendees purchased these commemorative books much like we purchase the parking area aerial photos today.

Good luck with your quest for information!

Kevin

You might try calling the WBCCI headquarters in Jackson Center and find out if the historian has anything. Maybe for a fee, they could copy something for you out of their files. They would likely bee more interested if you expressed and interest in joining.

Those are some great suggestions! I didn't know about the commemorative books from rallys. My mom passed in November, and I'll bet she has one squirrelled away somewhere, but finding it on e-bay sounds easier! Thanks for replying both of you.

MzCa72,

If write your experiences under a new thread in one of the areas, I know that the forum members will enjoy reading about your 1972 experiences at the Louisville International rally. Also it appears you spent more time Airstreaming. Let us know about all of your fond memories.

I haven't had any luck contacting "the company" for historical information. I have a "new" 1958 Flying Cloud that I've discovered was on several exotic caravans in the 60s/70s. I'd love to find photos of the trailer from back then. There has to be some trove of photos somewhere, right?
