Cool Hi there...

I'm really new to the world of Airstream but I'm not usually a bozo, so when I decided that I wanted a travel trailer I knew it had to be an Airstream.

I started looking about 8 weeks ago in ebamotors.com and craigslist.org. I stumbled around and found airstreamguy.com, vintageairstream.com, vintagetrailersupply.com, vintage-airstream.com this forum and many other interesting and not so interesting sites.

At first I didn't know what size or options I wanted but with time and due diligence and started to learn what I liked and what I didn't like. Finally, I narrowed it down to Overlander, Ambassador and Sovereign.

Because the opportunity presented itself, I got a 1968 Overlander Land Yacht (26') with twin bunkbeds (seemed rare to me).

I haven't taken possession yet because he needs time to remove his belongings and get used to the idea. He's the 2nd owner, the 1st owner was his dad so there's a lot of sentiment there.

So, I expect I have lots of questions and stories to tell as I begin to restore "X" (I'm thinking Rita or PeggySue, my wife suggested Godzilla). Can you tell I'm running solo on this.

Name it after your wife with a "II"

Tell her it's high maintenance, but elegant, unique, fascinating, beautiful and above all Worth It. (Shameless flattery works. Just heap it on with a trowel!)

Welcome from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

Give it some time and a couple of really neat Airstream adventures, and you will become the guy "who takes care of her trailer".
