Hi everybody!

My wife and I just bought our first Airstream, a '63 GT, in average condition. She's gonna need some work and I'm gonna need a lot of advice on how to's and what for's. When I finish paying for it (the current/previous owner is most graciously letting me make installment payments on it, how cool is that?) I will post some pics and start picking yer brains on how to get her back to her original glory. Looking forward to it!

Welcome G,

Congrats on your GT and we're glad you're here. There are many great resources and knowledgeable members here that can help answer questions you may have as you are working through the renovation project.

Kevin

The GT is home. :)

Had my first towing experience today towing my trailer across town to its new home in my driveway. I couldnt get the tail lights to work so my buddy followed me home. the trailer towed fine and my 4runner didnt seem to mind the load. here are some pics i took once we had her in the driveway.

Welcome to the forums. Had I known Airstream ownership would be this much fun, I would have done it sooner.

Congrats on your new toy. She looks a lot better than my 69 GT. I have a total restore to do on mine. Good luck and enjoy.

..wow, that's a GREAT lookin' little trailer you got there! the exterior appears to be in really good shape, you already have the u-shaped dinette (two tables?), and she has great potential!..

yer in the right place!

yeah, shes in pretty good shape for her age. the outer shell has no issues on the upside, underneath there are a couple of holes, nothing major. im trying to get the electric systems to function. i started a thread over in the electrical repair forum if youre interested.

the wheels arent split rims, so thats good, but the axle is marginal and needs to go to airstream heaven. the torsion bar is level with the trailer right now. in a perfect world i would take it to inland rv in southern cal and have andy and his boys put a new one on it. assuming that the electrical issues get resolved, do you guys think the gt would survive a 350-400 mile trip down I-5 to andy's for a new axle? the dinette table fits into the 2 holes you can see, its a 1 piece table, looks original to me.

having fun here troubleshooting all the bugaboos although eventually i would really like to go camping, he he....
