Hi all I'm a newbe Airstream Owner
My wife and I bought a 2016 Flying Cloud a couple of weeks ago. I have been using this Forum since we bought the AS. I initially planned to add solar on the roof and watched video after video. Now I think I changed my mind and will use a couple of the 160 watt panels off of our previous trailer as portables.
I had 480 watts of solar on my previous rig. I think I'll be able to make up some of the difference by being able to tilt them as portables and by being able to keep them in the sun. Last year we made a trip out west and keeping the top of the trailer in the sun was pretty easy. Especially on BLM land.
This year we are traveling down along the east coast. Getting sun in a state park is almost impossible. But then again, most seem to have electricity availale at each site.
I also moved my 4 - 100 Amp-hour LiFePo batteries to my AS. We can easily got about 3 days on those before I need to run a generator to recharge them. Oh, one other thing I move over was my 60 amp battery charger since the LiFePo batteries can take a quicker charge than the Lead Acids.
I hope to see you all around sometime.
Take care.....

Welcome to the brotherhood. We have about 100 watts on our Classic's roof. We get charging on cloudy days, and, under the trees. Not as much as open sunshine, but, when coupled with LED bulbs in the most used lights, the batteries stay charged.

Portable Zamp, Victron monitor, with lithium batts and Boondocker lithium 60a converter has been a great upgrade.

I'll post pictures. I have to take a few first! I want to get my Victron solar charge controller and my Victron battery monitor installed. (still in previous trailer). That probably will not happen until March since I'm still in Florida heading south in my AS.

Thanks for the photo: It looks like you are all set for some great Airstream adventures. I hope you like the towing and camping experience compared to your previous RV. Airstreams are a different breed of cat and some folks just don't like them.
But we do! We've had one since 05 and enjoy traveling with it. Our Airstream has been all over the USA as my wife's folks bought it new back in 86. The thing gives us a chance to explore new parts of the country.
Welcome to Air Forums and the Airstream community.
David
