Hey Ya'll

I have a 75 Overlander. Have had her for a couple of years but just started thinking about really redoing some things, mainly striping and polishing. Right now I'm getting it ready to take to deer lease. It will be there for the next two months. So I'll have some time to pick everyones brain about best practices and tricks for fastest and easiest way to put a shine on her.
I know there's really no "easy" way of doing this but maybe there's some short cuts.
Anyway,glad to be here.

Scotty

Welcome to the forums

I believe a product called "Aircraft Stripper" is what quite a few others have used for the stripping process. Use the "search" function above and read all the discussion/discourse on stripping and polishing.
There's definitely no easy way of doing it, and I don't really think there are any shortcuts if you want it done right - however depending on the condition of your skins, it may take more/less effort than others.

Here's a good thread to start with: Strip 'n Polish Project Thread ( lots of great tips and links)

Slowolf, How does the F-250 pull your AS? I have an 06 F-250 4x4, but it's a supercab not a cc. It also has a 5.4 gas engine instead of diesel. I haven't pulled my AS yet but just hooking it up and moving around the yard, the Ford doesn't squat near as much as the 03 Dodge 3/4 ton I've had for the past 2 years. I think the diesel would have been better, but it's a company truck so at least I don't pay for gas.

Your Overlander has a GVWR of about 4600 pounds so you shouldn't have any problem at all. The F250 with the 5.4 V-8 is a little underpowered in my opinion. The weight is not the issue, but the ability to tow up a grade is. The V10 is better and the 6.0 Diesel is best. My AS has a GVWR of 9100 pounds so I need some beef to tow it. The 6.0 PSD is fantastic. I love it.
