Here we go...

Next week we take possesion of our 25', 2006 AS. I cant remember being so excited about a thing since my first winter overnight with the Scouts. I am leaving my carreer in Catering, after 29 years and heading out to settle in Washington state. But first, my wife and daughter and I are going to take our time crossing. We start with visits and goodbyes to family in Saratoga and Buffalo N.Y. Our plan takes us through Michigan to Sleeping Dunes and The Upper Penninsula, across Wisconsin, Minnesota and into S. Dakota to the Badlands and Rushmore. From there we will go to Yellowstone, head south through Idaho and Utah to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We then will head to the California coast and north to Olympia, Wa. We hope to make this a safe journey and wish to thank all of you, the members of this Forum for your freely shared wisdom and experience. Thanks especially for the checklists.
Oh,and by the way, neither my wife nor myself have ever towed a trailer.
How hard could it be?
Wish us good luck for we are either very brave or very foolish!

I wish you the very best luck! We will soon be starting out on our on adventure. Keep us posted on how it goes, and take care.

We took a very similar trip in a car in 1994, visiting many of the same places you mention, but wound up in Virginia/DC before heading back home. Wonderful trip, take your time, be flexible in your schedule. We stayed 3 days in Door County Wisconsin just for a break from travel at a nice resort.
I would suggest a short, local trip or two before you head out across country for a couple of reasons:
The trailer may have some issues,
You may have some issues.

There are some threads here about backing trailers, about check-lists and other first time RV items. Do a search, hopefully you'll get more input.

Congratulations~I know what you mean about the feeling, I think we call it Aluminitus! Fyrzowt has good points, always good to get issues worked out first. Enjoy your journey and keep us posted, we are planning a similar trip this summer and would love to hear of your experiences.
