I have finally got this lovely old Airstream trailer, It needs alot of love and care. Can anyone tell me the year and model. The plate next to the door says 24D-0175. There is also the number 159 on the bottom of the plate.

A quick guess? 1959 Tradewind. Does it look like this: Vintage Airstream - '59 Tradewind

The 24 is probably the length measured from bumper to ball -- it may be anything short of 25' and still be called a '24.'

It's a double bed, right? The production number (175) seems to fit right into the sequence for '59 Tradewinds.

We could help you with uploading instructions if you happen to have any digital photos. That could help us a lot!

Is that a Riviera of 70's persuasion you are using as a tow vehicle? Oh yeah, and welcome to the forums. The trailer looks a lot like the condition quite a few of us have started with. One can't help but wonder who 'd leave a trailer, or anything for that matter, in that condition when they are trying to sell it. With some love and attention you will have a real beauty of a trailer.

Yes, That is a 73, I do have a 64 Riviera also, I think the best one to tow her with would be the 73 Eldorado Convertible! They are all so fun. I wonder if my 69 corvette would tow it? Ha... I just sold an old 53 Kaiser Manhattan, that would have been darling!

I think the owners were bee keepers, there is alot of bee information in there. as well as some secret codes listed on the original warranty, I shall include a photo of the warranty as well. Thanks so much. Angie

I wonder how many were made in 59? Also, I did confirm it belonged to a bee keeper in Utah, he passed away and some bums lived in it before I got it. I am told he was the original owner. It has sat with broken glass for sometime, yet amazingly the structure is pretty good.

Angie, the Vintage Airstream link I provided in post 2 suggests "24 9 001 to 24 9 187", thus sequential production numbers totaling 187 for this model. Yours looks to be a California model. I don't know how that split out between Ohio & California or whether all numbers were used (I suspect they were).

Structure? An old unit is amazing when it is put back together, but be prepared to find serious needs the deeper you look.

You are most welcome to come aboard, burden us with your issues, document your progress here, and (as Fred Coldwell said in post #14) find another jewel in the vintage Airstream galaxy!

The transmission in the 73 would probably be better suited to tow the trailer, but the 63 would do just fine and that would look gorgeous going down the road. The Eldo Convert would also look sweet. I sold my 72 big block corvette convert a while back and my wife bought me a 70 SS Chevelle to complete the restoration on so we can use it as an alternate tow vehicle. I've got a ways to go yet but with the help of the car club guys we'll get it done. Have you seen this Kaiser? A fellow named JF (he goes by initials)from Oliver, BC built it and it has a later model Caddy engine....

Ok, I have removed all of the debris, carpet, pad, mattresses, and other things we wont mention. Ha.. I found treasures, lots of old and new parts to this sweet heart! Pumps, Pooper parts, propane parts, old wood parts, everything seems to be there! Old square tile floor under all the carpet, and cover to the furnace, as well as other parts and covers, I am yet to locate their proper places.

I ran out of daylight! So tomorrow I will post photos of what it looks like now and a layout of the parts. Maybe some one can help me identify them!

I have a 1979 Foretravel Motor home, I love it dearly, I don't think this will tow behind, I have several boys 14 to be exact! I can only sleep 8 in the motor home, this will be a joy! an absolute joy!

I adopted all but 5 of the boys after a divorce in 97. They will have a blast, it is so tall inside, they can actually stand up in it too..
