Hello to everyone
Hello, to everyone.
I have been lurking around the forms for some time and finally have a few minutes to say hello and introduce myself. I must say this is one of the friendliest and nicest forums on the net!
I have been RVing for many years growing up with my folks. I love to hike and have been tent camping for some time. After too many trips with out the comforts of a trailer I have decided its time to for me to break down and get one.
I have asthma, and the only manufacture that makes trailers with out the nasty smell of pressboard is Airstream. (and oh yes I love how they look!) I am currently looking for a used 2004, 2005, or 2006 (I doubt I will find a used 2006 but you never know ) 19’ Bambi either the CCD model or Safari SE. I have a 2000 Toyota Tundra 4x4 for the Tow Vehicle.
A while back I dropped in on the Beverly Beach rally. I met with Janet and Janet’s husband they made me feel most welcome and I appreciate the pointers they gave me on buying a used bambi.

Check out
http://portland.craigslist.org/sss/
Online classifieds. You might want to watch other relatively nearby cities classifieds as well. There's a 22ft on there now, I think there was a Bambi a few weeks ago but it must have sold. Airstreams go fast when you do find them, so be prepared to pounce!
It'll be good to have another Airstreamer to join in our NW events!
Welcome to the forum!

JD,
Welcome to the forums! I remember meeting you at Bev Beach. Have you checked with George Sutton RV in Eugene? I see they have a 2005 19' Bambi Safari with the LS package listed on their website. It's new.....but you should be able to wheel and deal with them, since it's last years model. I think it lists for about $37,500. I would think you would be able to get it for 25-30% less......and it's new! You might want to give them a call on it!

Re: Hello to everyone
What a great forum,
Talk a walk for a few hours and everyone replies!
Stefrobrts: - Nuts I must have missed the bambi on craigslist I have been looking. Thanks.
jordandvm: - Thanks. I was down at George Sutton. They did not have any 19' bambis in stock when I visited. I will check again.
Janet: - I am working on it. Used Bambis seem to be a rare commodity..
Thanks to all for the warm welcome!

It was great to meet you at Beverly Beach
It does take time to find the right unit.
We found ours through the Oregonian website ( www.oregonlive.com). It was a several month search. You can also get a list of all Oregon newspapers (and other states) at http://www.usnpl.com/ornews.html.
Good luck in the search jd.

Good luck with your search.
If you are allergic to particleboard(pressboard), make sure you take a good look at the construction of the cabinetry of the units you look at. I think some or all of them use it in the construction of the cabinets.
Maybe even the room partitions.
Solid wood doors are the way to go. I think the CCD's would have pressboard doors.

Welcome to the forums and I wish you well with your search.
I was at the factory a few weeks back and really enjoyed watching the craftspeople make the furniture and cabinets. Believe me it was a real treat to see them using actual sandpaper and feeling the wood for smoothness than watching an assembly line pressing particle board together.

jordandvm: I think I want to stay West of the Rockies to find one.. As far as a dollar amount I am thinking high 20's.
OreExcella: Thanks! I will add these sites to my searches.
BigAl: Thanks not sure about the doors. You may be right they could be press board. If anybody knows for sure please post.. However, I did check on the cabinets and they are made from foam core laminate. They basically take foam and cover it with a plastic laminate. Its very strong and light weight. This seems to be a new process and the only RV mfg. doing it I can find is Airstream!
Thanks again for all the replies. Once again this is the best forum on the net!
