I have purchased an Ambassador 28 advertised as 1968 1st question here's my vin what year is it ? anyone ( I 2 8 3 D 2 3 5 )

I think it's a 1963. That serial number doesn't jive with the numbering system used in '68.

I believe it is an International (I) 28 foot (28) 1963 (3) not sure about the "D", 235th trailer produced. You may want to spend some time on this site: Airstream, Inc :: 1960's Airstream has posted a wealth of knowledge.

Also, welcome to the wonderful world of Airstream ownership. There are a couple of very active groups in GA. One, "The Georgia Unit" owns a campground North of Helen, GA and holds rally's there. The other has just formed and is called the Southeastern Camping Unit and emphasizes camping all over the Southeast. Mostly GA and FL State Parks. Send a PM if you are interested.

The D indicates a double bed floorplan (folding gaucho on one side of the aisle, cabinetry on the other)

It amazes me how many sellers get the year WAY wrong. I guess a lot of people end up with untitled Airstreams without learning anything about them, then sell them.

I think your all correct after a couple of hours pouring through photos and threads it's a 63 ambassador international / It has flat glass all and 2 round tail lights i think everyone should have ft and rear pics when they can. and airstream .com has floor plans of all years and the 63 is the only one that had the exact plan mine has . witch is all coming out soon. thanks to all for your help !!!
