Hello from YYC

Hi from Calgary, AB, Canada!

Long time lurker first time signing up and posting. Wife and I have been wanting an AS for some time now and recently jumped on a private sale.

Welcome home our 1974 Overlander Rear Bath Double

<a href="https://imgur.com/QaihEwe"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/QaihEwe.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

It has a bit of hail damage as it lived outside but the interior shows little to no sign of water intrusion. (the tear down will confirm this).

Plan is to redo the interior completely and make it our own. (previous owners had replaced kitchen cupboards with oak veneer and we don't plan to keep them)

Anyways, I look forward to learning more here from the community.

Welcome from Colorado: Almost as scenic as your Calgary. We love mountain living.

And welcome to the vintage Airstream hobby. I hope you will enjoy your project as much as I enjoyed mine. I have a 75 Overlander 27' rear bath twin bed that I renovated a few years ago. I find the 70s trailers are prone to rusty frames and rear end subfloor rot. Maybe you have done the bumper test to see if your trailer has rear end separation. Mine did.

So the belly pan came down, the axle came down, the old stinky insulation came out, the rear bath plastics came out and I made the necessary frame repairs and subfloor repairs.

I left the interior pretty much as it was except I overhauled much of the cabinetry. I also installed new plumbing and new appliances. I also installed new axles. The trailer is now a comfortable and reliable traveler. Here are some photos just for fun. No; just to show off. : )

Maybe you would like to post some photos too.

David

Very nice David!
I am pretty excited to start on our renovation. We will be clearing near all the interior as the last owner did a "lovely" cabinet job and we are "struggling" with removing them as they look so well done. lol Really we plan a full interior remodel from ground up.

We plan to also change the flooring which will include checking the subfloor and in turn the frame. There did not appear to be any separation on this one so fingers crossed when I dig deeper I don't find anything too serious. (but I am prepared for it)

I had tried to post a picture in the first post but it appears I used the wrong img link.

Here we go again:

Wow, your Overlander is much nicer looking than mine. You are right, someone built some very nice cabinets in the trailer as opposed to the aluminum and plastic ones Airstream used, and I reused to a large extent.

Your Overlander appears in great shape. Let us know what you might find during your in depth inspections. I bet you will not find many major problems.
