Hello from Vancouver Island

We bought our Airstream Sovereign 25' last spring, but I have lurked around this Forum for nearly a year. Our registration says we have a 1984, but this website says a 1985 Sovereign.
My wife Lynn, two years now recovering from a brain injury, and I moved from Ottawa, Ontario to Courtenay, BC. We moved to be closer to our sons, and to enjoy milder winters. We have moved into a 55+ Community here.
The Airstream is our first trailer, but we have had other RV's for about 8 years and were cruising boaters for over 35 years.
Our recent medical issues and new home have cautionned us to leave snowbirding and more extensive travelling until at least next spring, but we are looking forward to hitting the road again.
So, seems like a good time to join this 'group', sit back, and enjoy the company.

Welcome Gerry! How wonderful to have you and wife join the very welcoming and informative forum family! You'll get an amazing amount of information here, in any degree of detail that suits you. We are fairly new members, but were immediately impressed by the humor and general sense of goodwill of the forum. Sending healing thoughts your way, and best wishes to you and your family. You'll soon be on the road to good health--and many happy adventures.

Welcome from across the straight! I get over to the island quite regularly, as I have projects under construction there that I visit regularly. My family also has a cottage west island in Ucluelet. If you've not been over there yet, I strongly recommend a trip. Long Beach is beautiful!

Welcome to our group. I am relatively new (March I think) but feel as though I am among friends..good freinds. My cousin in Victoria writes of how very expensive it is to take the ferry to the mainland. I imagine it is much more so to take an Airsteam on the ferry. Is it?
Neil.

Hi Gerry.

A big Welcome to the the land up North. Have you tried some local trips such as Strathcona up by Campbell River, Love that place. I think you could probably spend a year just camping on the Island. It is one of my favorite places. Well "keep coming back, It works" to steal a phrase.

G'day Gerry and welcome to the forums!

My family and I are planning on towing our bambi out to Nanoose Bay this year to visit family and we're looking forward to it. Beautiful place to be and come back to.

All the best with Lynn's recovery,
brad.

Welcome aboard. You've moved to one of the most beautiful places on the planet! Lots to see up there ..and.....one of the best cruising areas(boat wise). Good luck and we'll see you on the road..or maybe on the water.

Cheers, Jeff

Gerry and Lynn: Welcome to the forums. We warn you that it can be addictive. I never thought that I would be checking a computer two or three times per day....on my day off! What a good group of folks though. Good luck with your AS and with Lynn's recovery of course. Hopefully we'll see you out there soon.
