Excited and scared to travel from Texas to California to pick up my first Airstream. 1960 Overlander.

Welcome to the Forums. Back in 2014 we traveled to Sacramento to pick up a 66. A few years later to Michigan to pick up the 55. All I can say is to take plenty of supplies and tools to cover all scenarios you can think of. In picking up the 55 I even took a drill, drill bits, rivets and a manual rivet gun. Good thing I did. Part of the belly pan came down in Arkansas and was able to reattach it. At least the chipmunks were able to escape. Foil tape and rope for tying the door tightly and the Hehr vents so they don’t blow off. Electrical stuff for the lights. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Slow and easy wins the race. Good luck

Welcome to the Forums.
The big question is: Has this trailer been in use, or has it sat idle for the last 10 years. If it has been used, then you might have a rather easy "recovery mission." If it has been neglected, then assume the worst, but go ahead and ask about at least the following:
-Condition of tires and spare (good tread means nothing, you want to know how old they are)
-lights working? Wired to modern tow connection standards (you may have to bring your own magnetic lights and a long lead.
-Brakes and bearings functional/seen grease recently
-Hitch--ball size, functionality of the latch, presence of safety chains, breakaway switch, etc.
-wieght distribution hitch?
good luck!

We just got back from a 4,100 mile round trip to the Sacramento area to pickup a 2013 FC 30 RBQ from the Houston area. Four days out, two days there, and four days back. Boy are those California roads in poor shape.

Here she is
This 60 seems to be a pretty solid near original. Thoughts on her, price, condition and things to look for? A bunch of the mechanical components have been well maintained. Thanks in advance
