Hello from Santa Fe, NM!
Just posting an introduction, as suggested. We are Andrew and Paula and we are total newbies. We are planning on living FT in our AS and check out all the beautiful places in N America and beyond (hopefully!) starting in February (as our lease is up then) so we have a ton of questions regarding winter use etc. But, as we are complete and utter newbs, we have a shitton of questions! Trying my best to navigate the forum (and elsewhere) looking for answers/ advice before I post the inevitable stupid questions! Although, I am pleased to see the kindness and respect shown to newbs in posts I’ve read already. We’re not above laughing at ourselves and we understand there’s quite a learning curve for people like us so it’s all good! I wish we could start now! Looking forward to meeting people and seeing as much as we can!
Andrew

Hello Andrew. Welcome to the forum. We were all newbies at one time so we understand. So whatever question you have just ask away. We will try to help in anyway we can.
You mentioned about meeting people. In that regard joining the Airstream Club would be a big plus. Find the local unit and you will find people willing to help with the learning curve.
All the best!

Welcome aboard! You're right up the highway in Santa Fe! There are quite a few of us here in central New Mexico!
I'd also suggest that you consider joining the Airstream Club, which many of us belong to here. You can join any unit you want to; there is a local, New Mexico unit, but also the Colorado unit, the AZ unit, the Four Corners unit, and on and on.
Again, join any unit you like and that fits your lifestyle. As a member, you can then take part in any rally or event nationwide by any unit. You join one unit as your main one. You can optionally join other units (one or more) as an affiliate so that you receive their newsletters. For example, my main membership is the Colorado unit, but I am an affiliate of several others.
Again, welcome aboard!
Lynn

Greetings from Colorado: I agree joining the International Airstream Club as well as your local club or clubs offers many benefits in the Airstream Community. I'm an old geezer and enjoy the vintage Airstream hobby. The Globetrotter model name has been around Airstream for decades. It is a name that reflects the many travel adventures that Airstreams embark on, including the around the world caravans of the early 1960s.
I have and have renovated a 1969 Globetrotter 21'. It is not suitable for full timing, but it is a great travel trailer. Here is a couple of pictures. Your new Airstream will last a long time indeed.

Welcome, Paula and Andrew. We winter at The Ranch, the Escapees co-op between the bats and aliens. We'll be getting a new-to-us Airstream in a couple of months. I've been on this forum for more than 10 years, and still have questions. When we were researching for our first full-time rig, I kept saying that I'd rather ask 1,000 questions before writing a large check than ask the same question 1,000 times after writing a large check.
Read the forum as often as you can and pay attention to the signature files. Find someone with a similar trailer and correspond with them if they are willing. Find someone in/around SF to go camping with. You don't have to go far, the Bernalillo KOA would do, just so you have full hookups the first few times you camp. Living with 50 gallons of water is a LOT different than living in a S&B with unlimited water. Also, in the S&B you don't have to worry about what goes down the drain. In an RV you have to dump the tanks. That isn't unique to Airstreams, so even if you go camping by yourself for the first time you can ask a neighbor for help.
By all means, though, ask questions here. Hans is correct - we all were newbies at one time. The only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask and then wish you had asked.
