Hello from New Owner — 1962 Globe Trotter

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum having just purchased a 1962 Globe Trotter 19ft. She is in good condition and mostly all original. I plan to get her fixed up and polished up for some trips next summer. I live in Dallas, TX.

I would greatly appreciate copies of manuals or other documents if anyone has them to share.

Welcome from Colorado: Wow, did you every find a beautiful 62 Globetrotter! I don't think I've ever seen one with vertical tail light clusters. It looks great, and your going to really enjoy that vintage beauty. Everyone in the campground will stop and ask about it.

My son has a 69 Globetrotter 21'. It is the first year of the new body style. His trailer needs more work, but he has had it many years and enjoys it the way he likes, which is boondocking in the Rockies. It is tough duty on an Airstream. See photo 1.

I attended a vintage Airstream rally recently. This very nice "grandma" had her Globetrotter there. It too is mostly original, and she has done a lot to keep it up. I hope I got the right photo. See photo 2.

I might ad Airstream brought back the famous Globetrotter name in 2018 with a brand new model. It is all the rage. You can read all about it here on these Forums.

I enjoy the vintage Airstream hobby. I had a 66 Trade Wind 24', and now a 75 Overlander 27'. My wife has a 86 Limited 34'.

I think you will find folks helpful and friendly here on these Air Forums.

Your Globetrotter pre-dates the first owners' manuals for Airstreams by two years. Airstream didn't start issuing owners' manuals until the 1964 model year, and even then, they were quite rudimentary. When your Globetrotter was delivered to its first owner, the owner was presented with a manila envelope containing individual owners' manuals for each of the installed appliances and major components. By posting a thread here on the Forums with the make and model of a particular component about which you have questions, someone will likely have the original owners' manual or specific knowledge to assist you in the operation of that item. You can also check out the Airstream corporate website as they have pdf files containing literature as well as some of the early model owners' manuals -- try this link.

Hey Kevin-We just purchased a 1962 Globe Trotter as well and plan on completing a full remodel. Would love to hear any tips you learned as you have dug into yours! Also, we are doing a full gut and not reusing a lot of items from tub to heater and sinks, etc., so if you need any interior parts we may have some we could send your way!
