Post Hello from Mary & Pete-1972 Intl.

Wow, this forum is great! We purchased a 1972 Airstream in October on an impulse and are having a blast cleaning/restoring/decorating this piece of history.

We NEVER towed anything before so this has been a challenge but after 1 hour of parking lot practice we backed it into our narrow driveway and have started the fun of minor restoration. We did have it checked out first and invested in some minor repairs and a new heating system.

So far on this journey we have learned that the airstream community is the best; offers of help, advice, shared experiences are indeed part of this experience...and we have not even been to a campsite! We have also been overwhelmed by friends and neighbors that wish us the best and want to come over to see our not so shiny second home.

We plan to replace the floor carpeting with linoleum (yup, the old/new linoleum) and to re-cover or replace the cushions and drapes. We have restored our 136 year old Victorian house in Michigan so our Airstream should be a lotta fun to work on too.

Sorry for the long message but we are appreciative of this forum and the members that make it so great!

Pete and Mary from Michigan
