Hello, finally, after 2 1/2 years...
Well, after registering, checking in from time to time and reading lots of info, I have finally gotten around to filling out the rest of the info so that I could do the rest of the stuff, too.
In October, we sold our '76 Sovereign, which we had owned since 1998 to a couple (who we have yet to meet) on the other side of the state (N.H.)
In two weeks we are headed to N.J. to finish up work on (and probably tow home) my wife's '67 Caravel which her father rescued from the auto salvage yard and has been slowly restoring since. It was in tough shape, but workable. He didn't do a frame-off, but knowing what he knows now, he wishes he did. Which reminds me, I have to start looking for some of that J-shaped moulding that finishes the wheel wells.
The other rig (mine) is Henry (I didn't have to name him Henry; everyone was calling him Henry anyway) is the '56 Cruiser (Custom 26) seen on RJ's archives. It originally belonged to H. Ford II and was most likely their wardrobe trailer since it had factory installed curtain rails running the full length of both sides (hence no side windows) 3 dressers, a Panel Ray heater and nothing else. When they passed it on, the new owners built a bed frame, dinette, kitchen plus a fridge and stove and it probably was used as a hunting or fishing camp. We gutted it when we got it home on 10/31/04 and is currently having work done at GSM Vehicles in Plattsburgh N.Y. as it begins its transition to becoming an actual travel trailer.
Maybe I'll put one of those cute pictures by my name when I figure out how. It won't take two and a half years, I promise.

Welcome to the Forums...from Newport, Oregon, just 3,245 miles west of you! At least that's what Rand-McNally reports.
Hope you enjoy your new unit.

I saw your Henry Ford trailer last month when we took our Excella to GSM to have her exterior restored. It's very cool.

Pisc of the Caravel upon arrrival from junkyard complete with fork lift scars to the bellypan, and in the barn with new pergo floor one year later.
It takes a while for me to upload things on this line, but Henry photos can be seen at http://www.vintageairstream.com/arch...om26/index.htm if interested.
Yes MyBoyBurt, I believe we have met before; at Jim & Sue's back in December (no, I haven't tried on the red shorts, yet!) Good to here from you!

Hello
I was up in Plattsburgh, NY last weekend. I've been in the Henry, and very cool. It will be awesome. Let's get the SOTR and the Henry cruising down the road together.

Yup, that is ours
Yes, that Sovereign of the Road is our baby. That Henry Ford the Second is one way cool trailer. What did you think of that SOTR?
Rob, in VA sitting in the Caravel with WIFI.

Rob,
Having just parted with our '76 SOTR I zoomed in on yours since I had never seen one of that vintage. Yea! That is going to look sharp going down the road! Do you have a time line for completion? I'm guessing about two to four years before Henry does his first overnight; depends on the availability of Federal Reserve Notes.

Bummer! I was about to ask if Henry would be ready for the 2006 Region 1 Rally's Vintage Day events. Oh well, I guess at least it means that "The Tube" will be ready sooner.

Hate to say it!
Well, I hate to say it, but that 76 was just a plain old Sovereign....not a Sovereign of the Road , that is what the name plate actually states...the "Of the Road" was dropped somewhere around 1960. As for plans, we are planning on having it done by our rally in June, and might just have it by Cherry Blossum - fingers crossed.
Colin has like 20 trailers in the lot now....so he's BUSY!
SYDTR,
Rob
