Welcome!

Welcome Rollerboy, Good luck on your search. Are you looking for a specific size or year? If you let community know I'm sure they will keep an eye out.

It is possible....

Rollerboy, It is possible to get into a Safari (22 ft.) or Tradewind (24 ft.) or a comparable Argosy length for $7000.00 or less. You will likely have to find one that needs some TLC in the late '60 to mid '70 year range. There are a lot of them out there that could be bought for that price but if it has been restored or updated the price will be higher. Try looking on local classifieds or Craigslist in your area. Also check out the classifieds here and put a wanted ad in that area. Their are members here who find trailers all around the country that may be able to aid you in your search. Google used Airstreams and you may find even more but never decide on one sight unseen. Even from a dealer you can get less than they claim. Get out there and really look them over and don't accept one unless you feel comfortable that you can do what may be needed to get it on the road again. I have been working on mine for 3 years and it hasn't been out of the driveway yet! However, when I do get to tow it I know it will be good to go! Take your time and you will find the right trailer for your needs. They have a way of telling you if they are right for you. Find that one first, before you take one home, and you will be happy with whatever trailer you make yours.

Hey Rollerboy, Welcome from what I can see this is the place. Tons of imfo here. You will find many people who not only know alot but are willing to help you out. Been working on a airstream I picked up this year. Got a lot to learn. If I was looking for a airstream? Hop in your car take a road trip look in backyards, Ask around. People know where they are sitting. I have people telling me things like Theres one behind a garage or my father has one in vermont on his land etc etc. Get the word out around town and something will come your way. Good luck!!! Welcome to the forums!

Great advice already in posts here! You might check out a rally near you to do a little homework and see what folks have, what kind of work they had to put in it, etc. Airstreamers are always happy to give advice!

Here is a not to long thread to take a look at whether you are thinking buying new or old: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f353...eam-22920.html

We went vintage and small because we had more time than money! But, I also lusted after a vintage Bambi for years....sweet hubby restored one for me.

Good luck in your search!

Your first desision was the right one, you must agree on your choice, after all Stream'n is a two way road.

The A/S Forum, a darn good place to learn everthing Airstream, welcome aboard and good luck in your search. Keep us posted.

Our Trade Wind ('66...24') cost us $7000+ a year and a half ago. Basicly it was sound but needed appliance and plumbing upgrades. At first I thought perhaps I paid too much but as time and info from this forum went on I feel better as many, not all, coaches I read about that were bought in the $3000 - $5000 range needed much more to get close to the condition of ours. Utilize the Search tool and research what to look and look out for in locating your eventual AS. Enjoy.
