Hello!

Hello everyone. I've read many pages here in the last 2 days and am amazed at the knowledge here. There is no doubt that I can restore an Airstream with all the help available here. My Wife and I have 4 children. 3 are grown and 1 still at home, and we camp just about every weekend from April thru October. (unfortunately not in an Airstream) I've always been interested in Airstreams, and always check them out at the campgrounds, especially the vintage units.

I wondered if anyone had ever done a shell off restoration and documented their project and had a very pleasant surprise when I came upon this site. Lots of people have and are doing it! It makes my decision much easier with the experianced people here. I live on a farm, have lots of room, a nice shop and am on my last project now. I need something "new" to restore. I'm looking for a late 50's to early 60's Globetrotter, but of course anything in the right condition for the right price will do. I hope to chat with some of you in the near future. Tom

Welcome. I think all of us who wanted to restore or refurbish and vintage Airstream were both happy and amazed when we found the Forums. You can spend waaaay too much time here, but every minute seems to be worth it.

Welcome to the forums Im sure if you do a search on the subject you might find something...The people here are very advnetourous when it comes to restoration sometimes. If you get a chance go to one of the rallys in Ill or MO they are a great time the one in Branson has a lodge on the grounds if you dont have an Airstream yet and what to hang out and see others. Hope to see you down the road.

Wow! Those were quick replys. My search might be a little easier because I'm looking for something that definately needs a shell off restoration. I've done Cars, Trucks,( I'm finishing a '48 Mack now) Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, Gas Pumps, but that elusive Airstream is hopefully around the corner. I just like to start from the ground up and know that everything is done right. Thanks for the welcome. Tom
