Greetings from Upstate NY

Hi All,
We are so excited....after looking for a vintage AS for quite awhile within about a 300 mile radius we gave up...there just didn't seem to be any in this neck of the woods and sure enough just when we stopped looking we ran across a 1975 Tradewind right in our backyard. We just picked it up and are in the process of going thru the systems...of course the po said the last he knew everything worked...So glad to find the forum..have lots of questions already! Can't figure out how to get water thru the lines and would like to find a manual...
Will be looking forward to rallys and meeting some of you folks!

Welcome to the boards. I'm new here myself- we jst got a 2007 20' Safari SE ten days ago. There's lots of info here- try the search function.

We are just a bit south of you- a hour below Kingston.

Enjoy your airstream!

Welcome!

Where abouts is latham?

We camp a lot throughout the spring/summer/fall in upstate NY at Fish Creek Pond (Upper Saranac). Don't see to many Airstreams around in this next of the woods though.

Cheers

Hey Christine,

Congradulations on your new purchase! It's exciting to get an AS, and....... the best part of owning an AS is attending all the rallies.

We have the rally of the year for you, and it is 3 1/2 hours from your home. I mapquested the distance to see if this rally would work for you. Yes....we are the hosts and always look forward to meeting new folks. We currently have 38 rigs attending this event and 3 rigs will be coming to RI from NY. This is a NEU (New England Unit) event, and will be our largest unit rally yet.

Welcome to the forums. You can but an Owner's manual for 1975 from Airstream:

Airstream :: Store

They don't have 1975 listed for Service Manuals, but you can get them from ebay. I got one from this seller:

eBay.ca: 1975 Airstream Factory Service Manual (item 260120031932 end time 26-May-07 14:26:35 EDT)

Welcome to the Forums!
It's great to have another 75 TW on the forums.

Are you trying to run water with a hose attached to the trailer or have you filled the water tank and are pumping water? The coper plumbing in my trailer was replaced by the PO (Previous Owner) with PEX, but I do have a manual of a year close to ours. Post a few pictures if you get a chance, everyone loves pictures!

Congrats on your new A.S.
The book might help for sure. I was looking for mine but no luck at the moment. Depending on how original the water system is you might find any combination of valves. Mine had been heavily er...reinvented aparantly by a plumber after way too much coffee. I have valves to be opened at the supply side, valves to be closed at the pump side, and a few valves that go no where at all...but probably need turning. SOmeone had decided that it made a good idea to be able to fill the onboard tank from the park water..thus one would be wise to double check them all Then there is that great big valve in the back...think I will let Terry pull that one
Congrats and be carefull out there

Hi Christine and welcome!

It's been a really long time since I was in Latham......went to school at RPI and graduated in '73. Anyway, you'll find a wealth of great stuff here. Don't forget to use the search feature and if you can't find it....ASK. Someone here will either have the answer or will have done it before!

In Rochester NY

We are just up the road from you in Rochester; about 225 miles West.

There are a few of us on the boards. I have a 63 tradewind (currently being restored at GSM) and hope to do a lot of camping in it this summer with my family (we are expecting our 3rd in July so there will be some downtime).

Have a blog about the Tradewind (and will be adding content on NYS Camping) at Airstreaming in New York

Hello, So happy to hear another Airstream in New York State. We have a
1967 Globetrotter we purchased in 2006. We know all about the search.

We will be at Oquaga on June 22nd with other Vintage Airstream people.
Perhaps you could join us. A Tradewind is a grand find.

Everyone on this site are very knowledgeable. Ask your questions. There will be many answers that are very helpful. ENJOY.
