Think of it as an airplane toilet with a smaller opening.
If Airstream flipped the bathroom, then the shower would have to be pumped over, that doesn't work.
The fresh water tank is between the axles, while the grey and black are in front. If they put the black tank under the toilet then you'd need two sewer hoses.
I think they made the right choice.

It does me, because I make use of other bathrooms! My black tank is all fluid.
Someday, I'm sure I'll be faced with "Feet, don't fail me now!" and I'll give it a real test.
Seriously, the toilet, if used normally should not extend the range. It doesn't burn, bury, or compact the solids, just moves them around.
Thanks!

The bathroom. Might be my imagination, but I feel the shower is just a bit bigger than all of them except the Classics. And a tip - I use the bathroom door as an indicator of level fore and aft. After getting parked and leveled with my iPhone measuring tool, the swing of the open door acts as a good fore-aft level indicator. I also like the huge slide-out pantry. And 50 amp + two AC units really comes in handy on a hot day.

Tip for 26RBQ owners. The bottom false front under the bedroom two corner cabinet drawers comes off, and reveals a nice hidey-hole over the right wheel well. Just gently pull it using any dull-edge tool - putty knife, spoon, whatever.

Acheron, now I know where to hide the chocolate
Dave - Hot water eh? That's a good tip. Why balance the tanks? Is that for towing stability?

Just to balance the volume. Both tanks are 39gal, grey fills much quicker than black.

Thanks again to Chris the hitch whisperer at Colonial Airstream, NJ for stellar work setting up the Equalizer Hitch for our new 26 RBT / Tundra combo. I just finished two tows for a total of 800 miles and it's fant-tastic.
FWIIW We are 110% loving the 26 RBT configuration. We have the Microwave/Convection which gives a huge pantry option.
