Greetings from a new owner and member.

Hello,
My name is Jim. I am the excited new owner of a 1967 Overlander. I have been lurking on the forum for a couple of weeks. I have really enjoyed learning while lurking, and look forward to the discussions. I would like to cap off my first post with a question. Will someone tell me a little something about my Airstream (Serno: CD9 378 KD) (I've seen how some of you can tell alot about a camper simply be reading the VIN.)

Thank You!

As far as your serial number or VIN, the number you posted dosen't look quite right to me for a '67 Overlander. Check out 67Overlander for what the VIN should look like. If you can, post some pics of your trailer and we'll all help you figure it out...ideally the plate beside the door with the numbers.

Welcome, Jim. You are pretty close. We are in Santa Rosa Beach, over in Walton County.

Thank you for the quick replies. As far as the location of the VIN on my Overlander, I was told (by an Airstream repairman in Dallas, TX) that the VIN can only be found in three places. Low down near the door, same spot (opposite side,) and on the tongue. There are no numbers anywhere on either side of the trailer. I did find this number(CD9 378 KD) stamped in half inch letters on the street side of the A frame (I had to reposition the stirrup for the sway bar to see it.) If this is not it, I am at a loss.

Thanks again

Does it have say "Overlander" anywhere on the trailer? On 1967's it's usually part of the 12"x2" or so plaque right under the window next to the door. The VIN is also embossed in one of the squares of that plaque. You can kinda see the plaque in some of the links on the link above - I've attached a picture of what it looks like below.

Thank you InsideOut!!!
I took a look at the picture and realized I must have overlooked something. On the 12X2 plaque someone had painted over (in red and blue paints) the following: Above the words "Land Yacht" was stamped (A226 FJ), below "Land Yacht" is stamped (127 D9 J7 27). I really appreciate your replies!

That serial number is for a 1969 Overlander 27 Feet long (26 ft in earlier years) Double Bed (Rear Bath) made in Jackson Center, Ohio. With International Trim Option.

Thank you AZFLYCASTER!

I did not know enough about Airstreams to suspect that mine is not a 67'
(I bought it from my wife's uncle, he told me it is a 67', no reason to doubt him).
One thing that did cause me to wonder though, my trailer has a fancy control center (barometer, clock, ampmeter, multiple switches, etc.) mounted in the front overhead console. I had not seen that in any pictures of a 67' and I wondered about it.

I don't know if I'm happy or not about the year change. Which would be more desirable? 67' or 69'. I should state for the record that I am really exited about owning any Airstream at all, I had no idea what a special deal it is to be in this club!

The biggest difference between a '67 & a '69 is the windows. '67s have the Corning glass windows and a '69 was the first year the rounded corner windows which are still pretty much the same today, were introduced.

Regardless, you are now part of the Airstream family which is reason enough to celebrate!
