Unhappy Grammie4 from Tennessee

Hi to all airstream owners,

I have wanted an airstream for a long time and just reciently bought a 1988 Excella. Had to put it in a storage because I still haven't sold my sob. I guess it isn't a great time of the year for trailor sales except for AS. Hope to sell real soon so that I can bring my little silver 25 footer to my house. My first burning question is how to remove the front lounge to have it reupholstered? It is not in good shape, very soiled and faided. Guess there is no way to clean it.

Grammie4, welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new-to-you Excella! Sorry, I don't have an answer for you on your front lounge, but I'm sure someone will chime in with some good advice. You could also try using the search feature - maybe your answer is there. Good luck with your Excella (and with selling your SOB!)

If you are planning to have someone do your reupholstery work, you are only about a day's drive from someone with years of experience with Airstream upholstery and drapes. Arlene Fowler of Fowler RV Interiors has reupholstered many Airstreams over the years including both of mine -- her work is absolutely fabulous, and she has an excellent selection of materials. The Fowlers have recently started a website describing their business that can be found at:

Fowler RV Interiors

Arlene and Henry are both craftspersons -- Henry restored the drop-leaf table in my Overlander (replacing the Formica top with Oak hardwood); and re-created my Credenza Table in the Minuet using beautiful hardwoods that matched the woodwork in the balance of the coach. Arlene handled the details of upholstery, drapes, floorcoverings in both of my coaches.

Good luck with your Excella!

Kevin

Our Spring Forums Rally is in N Georgia, not far from Chattanooga, next April 20 weekend if you are interested in meeting a bunch of Forums folk, sharing info and just having a nice weekend on a lake. Check the Forums Rally section.

Thanks everyone for your information. I have already contacted Arlene. I am looking forward to a rally as soon as my husband retires the end of May this year. I have been reading the forums for quite awhile as a guest. This sure is fun to hear and learn about airstreams.

I just returned from the Georgia Fall rally and had a great time. I am now looking for the bell shaped jack stand. Hope someone can tell me where to get one.

Grammie4,
Good to have you as a new member. I was in your neck of the woods last Tuesday at Tri Cities RV Sales and Service in Kingsport for brake/brake drum and bearings after an incident on the interstate.

For the aluminum jack stand, use the search feature and there is a thread about someone who is making them.
