Jim and Ayla Douglas here. We just now joined as we are looking for a used Voyager backup Monitor (WVOM541AP) to replace ours, stolen this past weekend.
We started Airstreaming in January 2021. We live in Central Mexico and Airstream 2-4 months of the year. We started with a 23FB and Grand Cherokee, putting over 18,000 miles in 18 months before moving up. We now have a 25FB FC and TV: ‘14 Ram 2500 gas 5.7 ltr.
Thanks for all the great info and helpful tips.
We have not done a lot of camping in Mexico, but what we have done has been great. We were part of a Sea and Rail caravan in early ‘22 and have ‘Streamed to Lo de Marcos and last month to Jocotepic along Lake Chapala, Roca Azul campground. Roads are generally a bit less than US roads, but not much. When they are bad, they are real bad (potholes, etc) but generally they are good. Gasoline is generally 20-23 pesos per litro or about $4.80 USD at today’s exchange (debt ceiling debate has eroded 25% of the dollar vs peso), diesel about 10% more. Now that our AS has Mexican plates, we will be able to travel much more.
More later, but we obviously find it very safe here and strongly encourage travel to Mexico.
Highly recommend Rhonda Rochelle’s ‘Tell Rhonda Your Story’ for her stories on Airstreaming in Mexico over the pst 3 years.
