Smile Got hooked on an Airstream

Hello. Proud owner of a '69 Caravel. Glad to have joined the forum because I have a few things to do to get the old girl back in shape. Looks like many resources are available here that should be beneficial.

Question to whoever. I live in San Diego and am looking for someone in tha area that can inspect/advise and or work on the trailer that.

There is no Airstream dealer in or close to San Diego.

Welcome to the forums and to the journey. Reviving our Trade Wind was one of the most interesting projects I have ever undertaken. Best part is the great friends I have met during the process, many of them here on the forums.

Congrats on your new acquisition. '69 trailers are probably my favorite of all vintage Airstreams. You get the more modern exterior styling from the '70s with the better quality interior from the '60s. Kind of a "best of both worlds" Airstream. There are a few parts that are exclusive to that year, and maintaining one requires a mixture of knowledge from both '60s and '70s models. In the end, it's all most definitely worth it. Enjoy your new trailer, and welcome to the club!

Mark, Welcome to the forums and to the AS adventure!
We have a 70 Safari we are currently working on and have a number of local SD contacts that would probably be helpful.
As Andy says, no local AS folks but there are a number of Vintage advisors that can get you started.
There is a guy in Chula parting out his 71 if you need any parts.
Have fun and go camping!

Hi , welcome from a fellow owner of a 1969 Caravel. We just got ours in September and are really having a great time fixing it up. Maybe we can exchange our war stories . Does yours have air in it ? Ours doesn't and that is the next big project to do besides removing the clearcoat and polishing. Bob and Patti

Research

Thank you all for the warm welcome to the forum. I'll need advice initial from someone that can look at the trailer. Are there people like that in the SD area?

If you'd like any help installing the A/C unit, just let me know and I'll be happy to lend a hand.

Yes our caravel has an AC unit on the roof but not sure if it works. It's on the list to checkout.

Thumbs up In San Diego, can-do.

Mark,
I'm off for a few weeks and will take a look and give you some tips. Also look up the SD Airstream Unit, there are a number of us with this era Airstream. I think you got a great year and layout. PM me or look me up in the phone book. We're in Pine Valley but I go down the hill twice a week, Mon and Thursday to PT...
There are really alot of resources nearby, just gotta ask...
