Glad to move into my new Airstream!
Howdy! I just bought my first Airstream (2007 20' Safari) and am fixing to move into it April 1st. I am very excited. My first camper was a tiny 16' Casita (looks like a Scamp), which I lived in for a year and learned all about the camper lifestyle, hardships as well as good times. I have since moved into an apartment and had been using the Casita for weekends in the mountains during all seasons. I loved the camper lifestyle the best and the memories compelled me to try again. This time with a larger camper, due to the cramp factor with a husband and a 100 lb. dog. Also, I have loved Airstreams since I was a kid and have always dreamed of owning one.
I am selling nearly everything I own and can't wait to embark on my new lifestyle!

Howdy and Welcome! I guess going from a Casita to a 20 footer is like going from a cabin to a mansion.......I have a 100 pounder also! Pray, sleep, and enjoy life...adios..B&S!!!

Hey Marklar...
Welcome. A couple of years ago my wife and I made the leap. We had an older trailer that had a mouse infestation... We were getting ready for the new camping year and found the "tell-tale" signs... I immediately went inside and told my wife "we've always wanted an airstream... We can either wait and buy one when we retire... and have it for ten years (five of which we'll be heavily medicated) or we can go and buy one now and have it for twenty uears (five of which we'll be heavily medicated)... Take your pick"
We bought one shortly thereafter... a 19' Bambi... The best investment we have made in years!
Hope you enjoy it as much as we have... We just love our rig...

May 1st of last year I moved into the trailer of my dreams (the size of my last walk-in closet) and I'm still giving things away and making trips to the dumpster. My Airstream is my home and my office. Loving it more every day.

You are so right on. We got ours in our 60's. Wish we would have done it several yers before, but we didn't. So we hope our health holds and we are able to spend a few years having a great time. Don't plan on selling even when we are unable to travel. We indend on letting the kids fight over who may want it, and if none of them do, they can get rid of it.

We have been in the 20' Safari for 4 1/2 months, but will return home soon. The small but very comfortable allotment of space to sleeping allows remarkable living space. Brilliant design.
We had the small Scamp many years ago, and it was a great traveler, for a couple weeks.
Cannot recommend this Airstream for below freezing temps though. Inadequate heating, moisture control, and serious cabin fever. Need to find a warm climate in winter.

Congratulations Marklar!
This sounds like so much fun. We plan to do the same thing in 10 years. You'll notice a big change from the Casita to the Airstream. Three words: forced air gas! What a dream. We also have a 13 foot Boler (like a Casita) and we can never get the chill out of the air. They are not well insulated. How did you ever survive winter in one? You're a tough one!
Enjoy your new life in an Airstream. I don't think it gets much better than that!
