Getting Started

My wife and I are VERY new at RVing. But a number of years ago, this is how we started out with boating. Three of the best years of our lives were spent cruising the Great Lakes all summer long. We miss it a lot! This is our attempt at recapturing the feelings of being out in the weather and enjoying the new life we hope we find RVing.

We're still looking for that trailer. We've narrowed down our search to a 23 Sig International, 2007 or 2008. We nearly bought our first one last week end but when we sat down with our calendars, we discovered we had NO free week-ends until the end of November. Thought a better time to purchase will be in the early spring. So, we'll wait until then.

We've been to Europe 15 - 20 times. Now, it's time to see our own country. We'll spend week ends and our vacations traveling the USA - so much to see and do. We look forward to spending time with other Airstreamers and learning about them.

My wife is the Program Director of the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio having retired from the world of Gifted Education of a central Ohio school district. She has a PhD in reading. I am in my fourth career - teacher, textbook sales, newspaper advertising and now a funeral director. What a variety. But then, that's been our life.

Hope to see you all soon......

Welcome aboard,

So is there a captain and a 1st mate? My wife will let me get away with being captain, but as a matter of fact she is the Commodore.

One advantage to an Airstream is that in most circumstances an Airstream won't sink.

There is some common ground between being a sailor and a streamer:
port= roadside, starboard = curbside, fore= front, aft= back, galley= galley, head = toilet, charts= maps. But most important cruise control is not the same as autopilot. It is still a common sense general rule that regardless of right of way according to the Rules of Navigation to give way to a larger vessel whether it is a oil tanker or a eighteen wheeler.
