hi Neil. I am trying to get used to this site. My main interest is to get advice on replacing a door window in my 86 soverign.The mechanic was all set but the replacement doesn't have correct profile. He talked about bending tempered glass???

Hello George -- Welcome to the Forums! I don't have a ready answer to your door window issue. Vintage Trailer Supply is known for having some answers to mid-60s Corning window replacements. You say, "the mechanic." Is this an experienced Airstream mechanic? I don't know a lot about the glass business but believe that they might custom modify glass and temper afterward. If you go this route be sure they don't use silicone caulk for bedding the new glass -- silicone doesn't bond to aluminum and will inevitably leak. Search the forums on searchwords: sikaflex 221

I live in the next town to the north...practically neighbors!
Don't know much about the '80's trailers, but there are plenty here who do. So who's the "mechanic"?
There's a few of us here in the area. The local wally-club unit is having a rally in September, up in Wakefield, NH. You should come check it out!
