G'Day From Australia

Hello all,
I'm Greg from Queensland Australia and the proud new owner of an 1987 classic 29 motor home which somehow found it's way down under and surfaced in an auction in Perth, Western Australia, some 2282 miles from my home. That's about the same as Utah to New York. Having done this trip several times in other vehicles purchased from auctions I flew over, picked up the Airstream and set off. Unfortunately all was not well with it and the engine fan hub bolts all came off and the fan took a disliking to the fan belt at 70mph on the highway. When I took the fan and hub off the hub threads were stripped. What we call here a shonky repair. Now it's about half way in storage while I seek mechanics willing to work on it, but that's the chance you take with auctions. So, I'm another newbie starting out on my Airstream journey and looking forward it.

Welcome from snowy Colorado: Airstream Forums truly is an "international community" as I have enjoyed meeting people Europe, Central America, Australia, and of course Canada. Airstream travel trailers have actually caravanned around the world back in the early 1960s.

Sorry to hear about your breakdown on the "recovery mission" of your new motorhome. But I bet you will get the thing in top shape soon and enjoy many trips with it. It certainly looks nice from your photos.

We have an Airstream Forums participant from Australia who has nearly completely rebuilt a 1949 Trailwind Airstream trailer. Many of us enjoyed following along on his project. Sometimes he would calls us "you peeps". It seems like he is a master craftsman and can do anything required. You might enjoy taking a look at his "project thread" and read all about it. Here is a link to his thread.
