There are a few forums also in Europe which are dedicated to all things Shiny, www.ukairstreamers.org
for one, i have not yet taken my 73 Overlander to France yet, but a handful of the UK members have and so have some of the Dutch Airstreamers, I imported mine in 2010 and as you already know it is not as difficult as some say it is. If you do manage to source a suitable A/S you will find that there will always be members both sides of the pond that will gladly share information with you on restoration, parts, and other resources.
What you have to decide is what size Airstream you are looking for, and if it is a Vintage trailer, will you want to keep original or modernise the inside, we opted for modern with a retro look, but we used much of the old aluminium framework as it is very light and was still in good condition, when ours arrived in UK it was as is from 1973, even the old 8 track was still working,
Airstreams are built to last
Good luck and regards
