Thumbs up flyer

My name is Bob and my wife is Carol, we are new to the trailer life. When I retired we bought a 40' pusher motor home and traveled for a couple of years. After buying a house we sold our motor home and I tried the retired live but soon got bored. My working life was as a Corporate Jet pilot and I missed flying so I bought a kit and built an airplane. After 2 years I finished it and the first flight was in Feb 06. We love the plane and fly as often as we can. We both missed traveling by RV and soon decided to get back into it. This time we decided to down size and get a trailer or small 5th Wheel. One of my flying buddy's ownes an Aistream and invited us to check it out, now I had to have one so the search began. I was lucky to find our 1989 29' Excella for sale in our small town. Our first trip was a 5,400 mile one from our home in Texas to my brothers in Idaho then on to my in-laws in California. We took a month to make the trip and stoped along the way to smell the roses, but next time we will NOT go in June-July HOT HOT. The trailer did just great, the only problem was caused by me, I did not support the trailer plug in cable and it drug along the road and shorted out my turn signals. I have replaced it and we are ready to go again!! Looking forward to meeting some of y'all fellow Airstreamers along the road. We have named our trailer "Wilma", our truck is "Fred"

Happy trails Bob and Carol

Hej Bob and Carol,

welcome to the forums and enjoy your Airstream! Which Kit-Plane did you built?? My Stepfather has built a Pulsar in our Garage and Living Room. It sits two and is really a nice silver (painted) bullet...

Bye for now!!

welcome. Lots of us are interested in what kind of plane. Many kit aircraft skills are useful in the Vintage Airstream world.

Since I got into Airstreaming, I've been using tools that last saw action on my BD-5 back in 1972--Clecos, mostly.
