First timer in Love!! (new Bambi)

Greetings all!
My wife and I are newbies. We have been wanting an Airstream for a long time. I just retired 1week ago my wife is set to retire in a couple weeks.
So last Thursday I was checking around the ads an I ran across a 2005 16ft Safari Bambi!!!
Well we wanted her and drove 13 hrs to Oakwood,GA
On Friday night we slept in her in the parking lot and fell in love......
All that was left was to right the check ....which I couldn't wait to do..$18.000
She looks like she is new and garage all her life .She really is sweet!!!
We need some direction on the best way to get her home to Chicago
We have 4 days to get home.... Any suggestions on route??
Campgrounds...etc

Thanks
Ed&kay

Welcome to the fold! You're going to love your new Bambi...

(Sorry but I'm not too helpful for routes in that part of the country...)

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

Congratulations on your new baby. We don't have any suggestions on a route. Just take your time and have a great maiden voyage.

If you try google maps and check avoid highways, there are three options. That might be a first try and modify from there.

Have fun.

Howdy and welcome to Airforums.com, Ed & Kay! Way to scoop up a lovely little trailer.

I75 all the way is a pretty route, and will take right by the Airstream factory in Jackson Center, OH, in case you want to have it inspected, or get anything done. Yee-haaa!

ps: I deleted the duplicate post of yours that showed up. I dunno how it got there, but it's gone now.

Thanks ! It's been great so far but it just started to rain. I just have been checking everything and the fantastic fan is leaking from 2 corners. Should I have the dealer fix it?
Tell me about having it checked out in Jackson please?

I would get the dealer to fix it if you just bought it from that dealer. it should be a free job.

As for Jackson Center, you are best to call ahead and make an appointment. You can make one online, but I would call, personally. 877-596-6111 and ask for Customer Service.

If you arrive later in the day, there is what is called the "Terraport", where you can unhitch and stay overnight for no charge. There is water, sewage, electricity, and free wifi access too. Be sure to get the wifi sign-on code before Customer Service closes, though.

While you wait for your work to be done, you can hang out in the large waiting room, which is adjacent to the Wally Byam Store, a place full of goodies that any AS owner will love. And be sure to take the guided tour of the factory. It's very interesting...

Be advised though, that their rates are not low. But, what other product can you take it back to the factory and have them fix it while you wait? I was very satisfied with the work they did on Henri, our vintage Sovereign.
