The vintage Airstream bug bit us hard! Getting our first trailer ever, a one owner 1966 Safari. We're driving to California for pick up next weekend. Have to get my 2004 Expedition wired for towing, including brake controller, of which I'm uneducated of course (first time tower). Immediate trailer needs will be a new battery and repairing/replacing the bathroom bi-fold door. Any comments, questions, or suggestions would be appreciated!
I have the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 controller in my 2004 4Runner with the Toyota connection that plugs right into the factory plug, if you have the towing package. I think you can order the connector for Fords as well. I got this one because the PO had used it on his as well.
With the factory towing package there should be a plug under the dash. You mount the unit and plug the connector into the unit and the factory under dash connection.
I just followed the instructions in the video provided at their website. I've pulled several times and never had a problem; easy peasy. I have also seen the unit on here as being a preferred controller.
