first post from Arkansas!
hi all - just picked up my '61 Bambi (TDSS1723) and am about to start some restoration work! At some point, it looks like somebody backed into something really big so there's damage to the rear corner. We're checking that out first (fingers crossed for no significant internal damage), and have the whole interior stripped out right now. need to shore up the floor near the door, too.
There are a lot of the original fixtures and cabinetry (which are, largely, in great shape!) but a few things have been changed over the years - the stove and heater were removed and extra water storage was added under the massive added cabinets that filled the front of the trailer. there's also damage to the door (looks like it may have been pried). worst of all, the Bambi plate is missing :-/
So, for starters, wondering if anyone can recommend suitable stove and heater replacements... And whether a pedestal-style marine toilet might work. There's a functional square rv toilet but, let's face it, it's kinda gross. I know the trailer was, for a brief time, a teenage boys' clubhouse. Ick.
Also, I'm in the process of finding a tow vehicle - my Civic will never do - and wonder if anyone has experience with/knowledge of a Volvo XC V70 as a suitable vehicle.
Other than that, no questions!
So excited to get things going! Hope to be road-ready by January of 2013
