Finally...after 42 years of dreaming.

Yep.....dreamt about having an Airstream when I was 20----and just turned 62, got my first Social security check, and finally bought one. She's a 1996 30' Excella in beautiful condition that I've spent the last three weeks "revamping" (she was previously done with a baby blue interior).
Her name is "The Goose", after my favorite martini ingredient---and she's turning out beautifully.
Now all I have to do is wait for my home to sell so I'm not cash poor when I buy something to tow it with!
.......VERY happy to finally be a "new member".
Jay

Congratulations, we just got a "new" 76 Argosy and '06 Ford F-150 TV ; now we have our retirement "toys" and are excited too! I can't wait to go camping in it for real, we camped on our vacation and on our way home with it, which was fun, but not like starting out deliberately to camp. Good luck with your new baby!

Arrrrgh.......I just spent about 45 minutes trying to post one picture. Any help out there on how to do it on this site? Seems when you click on "attach", it wants a URL address, which my photos don't have.
Geesh.

Geesh.
Bateaubaba,
Weclome aboard and congrats on realizing your dream. To attach pictures; click on the "paper clip" icon and then the "browse" button. Then navigate to the picture's location on your computer. Then click the "upload" button. the file or files will then upload and you should be left with a window showing your attachments and you can close that window. Your pcitures may need to be reuduced in size (memory) in order for them to post. Good luck.

BATEAUBABA - I've had exactly the same problem - I get into "go advanced" and the system wants a URL. Well, I don't know what a URL is and as far as I know my photos don't either. I've had help from a really nice mod. Maybe she'll come back on (here rather than via a PM) & tell us what we're doing wrong?

Wow, you guys get GOOD-SIZED SS cheques there! I would have to save up a bunch of CP (Canada Pension) cheques to get a TT up here!

All kidding aside, Jay, congrats on realizing your dream, may it be the beginning of many more!

Whitsend,
Not that it matters, but URL stans for Uniform (Universal) Resource Locator. Simply put, and internet address like www.airforums.com.

You should not have to go into "advanced" to post pictures. You should be able to do it by using the "paper clip" icon in the regular "Post Reply" button.

Geesh.
Another good way to deal with pictures is to use a free photo management site, like Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket to manhandle the photos around, then you just paste a link to the ones you want to show here.

They show within the message (no further clicking for viewers to see them), and are not restricted as to size.

Welcome to the forum!

Many people put their pictures up on photo album sites like Flickr, and then link to them when posting here in the forum. It saves server space on the forum.

The URL is just the location on the web where we can find your picture. (Uniform Resource Locater). For example, http://www.airforums.com is a URL. You know this.. you just didn't realize you know this

Sites like Flickr will generate the URL to the photo for you and you just copy and paste it in the field when submitting your post.

If you are in the "Manage Attachment" window, you will see the first box is labeled "Upload file from your computer". Click on the "Browse" button and navigate to your photo file and select it. You can do this up to four times. When finished click the upload button and wait while the photo(s) are uploaded to this site. When the photo(s) are uploaded, they will be listed below the URL box with your total size labeled "Current Attachments". You can then close the window and your photo(s) are attached to your post and can be viewed in the "Preview Post" view and will appear as part of your post in the thread.

If you use the paper clip method, you can insert the photo within the body of your text for clarity of explanation, but it is more steps when attaching multiple photos.

Figured out how to let you FINALLY see the before and after shots by clicking on:
http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/SILVERGOOSE/
Unfortunately, even though I loaded them in the proper order, they didn't quite turn out that way.

My "regular" E-mail address is SILVERGOOSE@LIVE.COM

Enjoy!!

You are corrrect about dreaming. I, also, have thought about an Airstream for many years and I am now 66 years young. After a couple of pop ups and a couple of class b's, I just joined the Airstream crowd and am very happy I did so. Why do we put off things that we really want to do. Thanks. Bill
